Tumbalong Park

Sydney sightseeing

Tumbalong Park is located in the vibrant Darling Harbour area, adjacent to Sydney's central business district. If you are seeking entertainment during the day, and want an action packed outing that is held in one city location, head to Darling Harbour and Tumbalong Park. The great thing about this area, is the variety of things to do, including a range of nearby museums, street performers and often there are games and rides.

Darling Harbour will glisten on a great day, sitting beneath a stunning stretch of high-rise buildings. There is a shopping harbour on one side, an almost endless strip of cafes, restaurants and night clubs, on the other, and a strong maritime culture that attracts navy vessels and tall ships that you can climb aboard and explore.

On the other side of Tumbalong Park, is China Town and the Entertainment Centre which hosts some of the largest music and theatre performances in the country. China Town offers further choice for shops to visit and places to dine, while you take a break from a busy day doing everything on offer.

Tumbalong Park itself is a large and wide green stretch, mixed in with trees, pathways, sculptures and water features. A massive playground is perfect for young children, especially if you need to provide them with a large area to satisfy their intrigue and confidence, but one that is also safe and is able to be supervised. The playground features traditional outdoor children's equipment, but also includes a massive sandpit, wooden bridges and landscaped gardens.

Tumbalong Park can be accessed from any area of Darling Harbour, which means you can walk from Town Hall station, or catch a monorail around. From the Central Station end, you can walk through China Town. Tumbalong Park features some festivals and events on its own, but is perfect on any other day for a picnic or getting outdoors with children.
