The Tramway Museum lies half hour south of the city by train, adjacent to Loftus station on the line to Waterfall. It has exhibits featuring the old Sydney trams as well as trams from Brisbane, Ballarat and Melbourne in Australia. There are also representatives from overseas, including trams from San Francisco, Nagasaki, Berlin and Munich. For serious tram enthusiasts, make a day of it with a visit to the Royal National Park.
