The Syndey Cricket Ground sports stadium is most often home to cricket matches such as the one day international and test cricket. On occasion it is also used for rugby union and AFL matches. The SCG seats 46,000 at capacity.
As long as European settlement as existed, Australians have loved cricket. The Sydney Cricket ground has a long history, it has gone under different names, been moved and also been the centre of controversy more than once. The first recorded cricket match was played here ion 1854.
Many great sporting moments have occurred here. Don Bradman and many other well known sportsmen have broken records. The first ever game of the Women’s cricket club was played here in 1886.
There are regular tours of the SCG which allow you to see the players dressing rooms, explore the members areas, have a look at the walk of honour and even do a run down the tunnel onto the ground.
Several local bus lines service the SCG.
