Surry Hills

Surry Hills is south east of the CBD surrounded by the suburbs of Darlinghurst to the north, Chippendale and Haymarket to the west, Paddington to the east and Redfern to the south.

In the early days of Sydney Surry Hills was the a leafy area where big mansions were built but then declined into a slum area. Now transformed into a dynamic inner city suburb with art galleries, restaurants, pubs and coffee shops.

Crown Street is the centre of Surry Hills with cafes, restaurants, fashion and shops. The Surry Hills Shopping Village is on Cleveland Street.

Surry Hills Markets are held in Shannon Reserve at the corner of Crown and Collins Streets, on the first Saturday of every month.

Surry Hills has many Victorian terraced houses.
