Lane Cove National Park follows a large portion of the Lane Cove River to the north west of the city centre extending from East Ryde to Wahroonga and Pennant Hills. Less than ten kilometres from the city centre, the park is a peaceful bushland area home to native wildlife and flora.
Most activities in the park focus on the river with walks, rowing and picnic spots all within easy access. Northern areas of the park offer good bike riding and bush walking along fire trails. Swimming in the river is not advisable due to snags in the river and cold deep water patches. Water quality after rains also make the river inadvisable for swimming.
There are overnight cabins available for short stays along with powered and non-powered camp sites. Bookings can be made through the Lane Cover River Tourist Park office.
The park is open from 09:00am and closes at 6:00pm (7:00pm during daylight saving). There is a small fee to access the park with car parking areas located throughout the main areas.
