Sydney Chinatown

Sydney sightseeing

Chinatown is a bright and lively collection of Asian food, shopping and culture all located in the city center. Spanning over several streets, the pedestrian only shopping mall on Dixon Street is the heart of Chinatown, the district extends to Golbourn Street in the North and Hay Street in the South.

You’ll know when you have reached Chinatown, the streets are marked with distinctive architecture, Chinese lanterns and Piafangs. If you’re a night owl you will be glad to hear that many of the eateries in Chinatown stay open as late as 4am in summertime.

Home to some of the best Sydney chinese restaurants and cafes in the city, don’t miss out grabbing a bite to eat here while in Sydney. There are also several specialist groceries and bakeries to choose from.

Chinatown is host to several festivals and celebrations throughout the year. The three week long Chinese New Year festival in February has an international reputation as being one of the best outside of Asia.
