Located on both the north and south headlands of Botany Bay, the Botany Bay National Park is a protected area home to both natural and cultural heritage. Within the park is Kurnell, Captain Cook’s landing place in 1770. Later, French explorer Jean François de Galaup, Comte de Lapérouse, also landed here - within a week of the British First Fleet in 1788.

The park is home to many protected varieties of Australian flora and a marine conservation area. There are many picnic areas and walks available for the general public to enjoy. It is also home to The Discovery Centre, which provides an opportunity to learn more about the ecosystems and history of the park itself. The Lapérouse Museum, also located within the park offers histories of both the Aboriginal people of the area and European Colonisation.
The park is open from 07:00am throughout the year. The Kurnell section closes at 7:30pm each day except in June and July when it closes at 5:30pm. The La Perouse section closes at 8:30pm November to March and 7:30pm the rest of the year.
