Balmain

Balmain is west of the city and originally a ship building area and now fairly trendy with many restaurants and pubs. Balmain markets are held every Saturday and popular.

Balmain is located slightly west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of Leichhardt.

Darling Street is Balmain's main street with boutique shops, restaurants and cafes. Landmarks on this street include the Post Office and Court House, alongside Balmain Town Hall, the historic Westpac Bank, Balmain Fire Station and Balmain Working Men's Institute.

Balmain has a number of Sydney ferry services that run from Thames Street, Elliot Street and in Darling Street, Balmain East to Circular Quay.

Balmain is home to many historic hotels, including the Cat and Fiddle Hotel and the Cricketer's Arms Hotel.
