Immersed in the Oxford St shopping precinct, Paddington Markets is an absolute institution in the inner city of Sydney. The open air Markets have been established for over 38 years in the Paddington Uniting Church Hall and Paddington Public School grounds. From a humble start with designers and crafts people working in the week creating objects to sell on the weekends, it was a creative space, and can honestly be regarded as the launch pad of many a young designer and visual artist. The Paddington Market’s mission remains the same – to support emerging designers and artists with a very strong focus on Australian made.
The markets are held within the Parish Mission in Paddington and the stall rentals revenue goes directly into feeding between 65-70 people every day. The money raised also goes into making sure the basics are met, food, shelter and clothing and shelter.
It is the only Not for Profit market in Sydney and they attract massive crowds from not only the local Sydney residents but from Interstate and Overseas as well.
