Lyne Park is located in Rose Bay, along New South Head Road, in the eastern suburbs of Sydney. The park itself is only small, however the view across the bay is stunning, and as it is located on a tiny headland, you can obtain a clear view across the water.
A golf club and tennis courts nearby add to the exclusive and luxurious lifestyle of living in the Rose Bay area. Transport to the city is convenient, and the distance is not long, which means magnificent waterfront properties are possible, while commuting as a corporate worker into the city. The nearby
sailing club, also adds to further possibilities of getting out on the harbour and enjoying the ocean-side city of Sydney.
If you'd like to take a boat out yourself, Lyne Park provides access to a boat ramp which runs right into Sydney Harbour. On a weekend, the water is dotted with tiny sailing boats, competing for space with large cruising yachts, and Sydney Ferries. Be prepared that Sydney Harbour can be a busy place, and in some areas strict maritime rules apply.
Kayaking is another suitable activity, and the Rose Bay Seaplane lands here also. Even if you don't get out on the water yourself, the park offers a chance to relax, exercise or enjoy a picnic. There is a small playground for children, and
cafes and restaurants nearby offer quality meals and a great atmosphere.
Lyne Park used to be tidal sand flats, and for a period of time it was used for naval purposes, and a flying boat base. It was named in honour of Sir William Lyne, who served as the New South Wales Premier in the late 1800's. Today, Lyne Park is a versatile recreational area that also acts as a gateway to one of the most beautiful city harbours in the world.
