Cooper Park is an old and well-established multipurpose recreation area located in the eastern suburbs of Sydney, near the suburbs of Woollahra and Bellevue Hill. You are able to walk from the major transport junction, Bondi Junction, or catch one of the local buses that travel nearby.
Bondi Junction also offers a great opportunity to purchase food for a picnic at the park, or allows you to combine park recreation activities with nearby shopping, restaurants and cafes. Walking around the tightly packed residential areas, will soon confirm how valuable Cooper Park is to the local community who seek some open spaces and fresh air.
The park covers almost forty acres and includes a diverse range of natural and recreational attractions, including natural bushland, walking tracks and the only creek to run through the eastern suburbs area. You can also wander through old gazebos, and other man-made features that help extend the ambience and attraction of the park.
Australian indigenous rock engravings are evident in the park, created by the Eora culture, and these are estimated to be between two-hundred and two-thousand years old. These are one of the many features that contribute to the value of the park to the local area, and ensure that it is respected and cared for by residents and the local council.
Exercise and fitness is perfect for this park, and if you bring your dog with you, he or she is welcome in some areas with a leash. The professional tennis courts, club and shop provide another fitness opportunity, as does the cricket pitch, practise nets and sporting fields. Personal training groups or individuals training alone are often seen in this park, as it provides some well-need space in an inner-city residential environment and a diverse range of outdoors workout opportunities.
